If lead paint is found in my house, can I do the repairs myself?

You sure can. You do not have to hire professionals to remove lead hazards from your house. However, for safety and to avoid possible litigation, it may be your best choice. If YOU perform the work, YOU will be held accountable if someone becomes ill. If you choose to hire professionals, they must be State Certified by the EPA of Louisiana. If you decide to do the work yourself, you must follow the instructions in "Lead Paint Safety", a Field Guide published by HUD. (HUD 1779-LHC) To download a copy, CLICK HERE Look under PUBLICATIONS at the bottom of the page.
